Winter greetings

The studio has been a busy place this fall with the October Back Roads of Brown County studio tour and then two shows in November. The new "segue rugs" have been a big hit and found new homes around the country! Check the rug gallery page
for pictures of the ones that were made this fall. Since most of the rugs are woven out on the porch, it's been rough to try to get more stock caught up! We've had several weeks of cold weather here, but not much snow yet.
Now we're  trying to finish up special orders that were promised for Christmas. Not much stock left in the studio, but at least the wonderful customers will have their presents in time.
Unfortunately, the supplier of the shaggy material I use has apparently gone out of business  so I'm once again on a hunt for stuff to weave my rugs. Another sad state of affairs with so much production leaving the US.
Holiday happiness to all.

New loom room at the studio

I haven't been doing a very good job of keeping up my journal. So much has happened this last year. We outgrew the studio space (1000 sq. feet) and started an addition in November. The idea was to add a loom room to free up floor space in the original studio and give me a teaching area so that I can offer "day weaving" and classes.
The addition is finished except for the front deck and gardens and I'm moving into it this spring.
Of course, the looms take up more space that I'd planned, but I'll try to work with what I have.

October in Brown County

  • Mood:

We're having a beautiful autumn in Brown County. The studio is part of a county-wide tour featuring artisans working in fiber, ceramics, glass, photography, drawing, painting and papermaking. People can visit as many of the studios as they wish and talk to the artists, watch demonstrations and purchase artwork. We've had visitors most days and they really seem to be enjoying the tour and driving the back roads. To learn more about the tour: www.browncountystudiotour.com
